UCHealth has earned the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives (CHIME) 2026 Digital Health Most Wired recognition at Level 10 for both acute and ambulatory care, the highest level awarded. This marks the seventh consecutive year UCHealth has achieved top designations.

CHIME’s annual survey evaluates how effectively healthcare organizations use technology across clinical and business programs to improve health and patient care.

Among the 44,000 facilities represented in this year’s survey, UCHealth ranked above peers in areas including:

  • Clinical quality and safety
  • Analytics and data management
  • Cybersecurity
  • Population health
  • Patient engagement and innovation

“Technology is most valuable when it makes healthcare easier for patients, while giving our clinicians more time to focus on care,” said Steve Hess, chief administrative officer for UCHealth. “From making it easier to schedule an appointment to using AI to identify patients who may be at risk for developing serious health conditions, we are focused on innovation that not only solves problems, but also improves the experience of receiving and delivering care.”

UCHealth continues to expand its digital tools, improving the healthcare experience for patients. The UCHealth app ranks No. 1 among Epic clients for:

  • Online scheduling
  • Check-in
  • Bill pay

Recent enhancements to the UCHealth app include:

  • Two-way text prescription refills
  • An “I’m on my way” urgent care feature
  • Expanded access to virtual primary care
  • A simplified online check-in process

UCHealth is also expanding responsible uses of AI to support clinicians and patients, including an AI-enabled program that evaluates radiology reports for incidental findings that could otherwise be overlooked. Current data show the program identified and managed 28,000 high-risk patients and helped capture 500 cancer diagnoses earlier.

Ambient AI documentation is reducing the time providers spend documenting visits, improving the patient experience during visits. As of May 2026, 2,500 providers have used ambient AI to generate more than 1.6 million notes, with a 25% improvement in the time needed to complete documentation.

UCHealth is also using video-based AI and its Virtual Health Center to support bedside care models, as well as exploring technology to improve surgical safety processes and agentic AI to help answer routine patient questions.

The Digital Health Most Wired Survey serves as an annual assessment of digital maturity among healthcare organizations worldwide, recognizing organizations that are using technology to advance the quality, safety and accessibility of care.
